So I’m pretty sure that I have what’s called psychophysiological insomnia. It’s a pretty annoying problem where once I lay down I start to worry about how I’m not going to be able to sleep and I’m not getting enough sleep, etc etc. This worrying keeps me up. It’s a really silly cycle that I know is a problem for me but I just can’t seem to get rid of once I actually get into bed for the evening.
My health has been compromised from lack of sleep.
So I was just wondering if anyone had any effective sleep techniques that worked for them, especially if maybe you’ve had the same problem that I have.
I have the same exact problem. To beat it, you first not only have to convince your mind to sleep, but your body also. Keeping your feet warm is very effective for falling asleep. If your feet are cold, then it’s harder to fall asleep. Also, make sure that you have no reason to toss and turn, make your pillow the correct height, and tuck yourself in all the way, or whatever pleases you. Now, with the mind thing. You have to distract yourself. Think about a dream you would like to have, or had in the past. Try reading a book until you can’t hold it up any longer. Or think about what you are going to do tomorrow, or go over what you did that day (unless thinking about those things are stressful). Bottom line, keep your mind busy until sleep overcomes it.
