How to help insomnia?

I have extremely bad insomnia, mainly because i’m a manic depressive, but I don’t have problems sleeping until right before I have an episode. Is there anything I can use too help me sleep besides medecine and also if I went on medication to control my episodes, would it help the insomnia?

Melatonin.
It’s a natural chemical found in all humans & animals alike, circulating levels varying throughout the day. When your circadian rhythm (our internal clock that regulates when we wake up, when we are tired, etc) isn’t quite precise, we don’t feel tired at the right moments. This often produces insomnia.
So taking this supplement will provide you with a larger amount of melatonin, which will therefore help regulate your sleeping patterns. This is often used to treat insomniacs.
Not to mention, it is ALL NATURAL, it is NOT a drug. It is simply a dietary supplement, available over the counter at most drug stores.
